Is it for you?

You like the details of how interfaces look and behave, and want to build them to a professional standard.

What you’ll learn

  1. Build components that work with a keyboard and a screen reader
  2. Turn a visual design into reusable tokens and components
  3. Document a component library so others can adopt it
  4. Measure and fix what makes pages slow
  5. Test components visually and behaviourally

The stack

  • HTML and CSS
  • TypeScript
  • React
  • Accessibility (WCAG)
  • Design tokens
  • Web performance

The project brief

Component library for a product suite

Build the shared component library for a family of sample products, from buttons to data tables, with design tokens, documentation, accessibility checks and visual tests.

What it shows
That you can build interfaces other engineers want to reuse, to an accessibility standard.

Briefs are modelled on real startup problems for learning. The work is yours: it is not done for any company, and it is not paid.

How the track runs

  1. Plant roots. Create your profile, choose your track and see what it covers.
  2. Foundations. Work through your track’s learning material at your own speed.
  3. Project sprint. Join a pod of up to six and build a production-style project brief.
  4. Lead and reflect. Optionally lead a pod, support newer students, and review what you learned.
  5. Share your portfolio. Publish your shipped work and earn your certificate of completion.

Questions about this track

Is the Frontend track about design or code?
Code, with a designer’s eye. You implement and maintain a design system rather than drawing one from scratch.
Why does the track focus on accessibility?
Because accessible interfaces work better for everyone, and it is a skill many teams struggle to hire for. It is part of every component you build.
