Cookie policy
Branchout stores very little in your browser. Here is all of it.
The short version
- We use one cookie, to remember your cookie choices.
- When you sign in, your session is kept in your browser’s local storage so you stay signed in.
- We don’t use advertising cookies, and we don’t track you across other websites.
- Optional performance measurement only runs if you allow analytics.
What we store
| Name | Type | Category | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
bo_consent | Cookie | Necessary | Remembers your cookie choices, so you are not asked on every page. | 180 days |
sb-…-auth-token | Local storage | Necessary | Keeps you signed in to your account. Only set once you sign in. | Until you sign out |
ph_phc_…_posthog | Cookie | Analytics | Recognises your browser between visits for product analytics. Only set if you allow analytics. | 1 year |
ph_phc_…_posthog | Local storage | Analytics | The same analytics identifier, kept alongside the cookie. Removed if you withdraw analytics. | Until you withdraw analytics or clear site data |
If you allow analytics, our error-monitoring provider, Sentry, measures how long a sample of pages take to load. It does this without setting cookies.
Categories
- Necessary — always on
- Needed for the site to work and stay secure: keeping you signed in, remembering this choice, rate-limiting abuse, and reporting errors so we can fix them. These are always on. In use: Sign-in session, kept in your browser’s local storage by Supabase once you sign in; bo_consent cookie — remembers these choices; Sentry error reports, with personal data collection turned off.
- Analytics — off unless you allow it
- Shows us which pages people visit and how they find their way around, and measures how pages perform, so we can improve them. No advertising and no tracking across other sites. In use: PostHog product analytics: pages visited and, outside your dashboard, what is clicked; Sentry performance tracing (a sample of page loads).
- Functional — off unless you allow it
- Remembers optional preferences, such as display settings, between visits. Nothing uses this category at the moment.
- Marketing — off unless you allow it
- Measures whether our outreach reaches people. Branchout does not show ads. Nothing uses this category at the moment.
Other companies’ pages
When you sign in with Google or GitHub, you do it on their pages. Those pages set their own cookies, under those companies’ own policies.
Your choices
You can change your choices at any time on the cookie preferences page or here: . Your browser can also block or delete cookies and site data; if you block necessary storage, you won’t be able to stay signed in.
Changes
If we add anything to this list, we will update this page and ask for your choices again where your consent is needed. More about how we use data is in the privacy policy.
