Why Branchout exists
The gap between learning to code and getting hired is real, and closing it usually costs money: bootcamp fees, paid courses, unpaid work that benefits someone else.
Branchout is a free, self-paced alternative. Students learn by shipping production-style projects in small teams, with volunteer mentors who have done the job.
What the program is built on

Mentorship shouldn’t depend on money
Good career guidance usually costs thousands. We provide self-paced tracks, real project experience and human mentors for free.
Production over theory
No busywork and no toy exercises: every brief is modelled on a problem engineers solve at real startups, including AI and machine learning work.
Leaders are grown in teams
Pods put you with builders at your level. You push each other, review each other’s work and, if you want to, learn to lead.
Why we’re building it
We aren’t here to compile boilerplate tutorials or subject you to robotic AI interviews. We are building a free, self-paced sandbox designed to forge engineering excellence through human mentorship, peer collaboration and real production mechanics — accessible to any student, regardless of what they can afford. Legends aren’t born — they are built, branch by branch.
How Branchout is run
- Free for students. The program, the mentoring and the certificate cost nothing. Nothing on Branchout is for sale at the moment.
- Educational, not employment. Students aren’t paid and don’t work for anyone. How the program is structured.
- Independent. Branchout isn’t affiliated with any school, and it isn’t connected to other companies or apps that share the name.
- Who operates it. Branchout is run as a sole proprietorship from British Columbia, Canada, with volunteer mentors who give their time to students. Become a mentor.
